I have referenced John Money twice in recent posts.  In My opinion there has never been anyone like him in the field of human behavior research and there never will be again.  Other than Becker’s, there is not a more stunning explanation for fetishistic behavior.  Money’s theories are not of the same ilk as Becker’s but each invokes a sense of cohesion where kink is concerned.  Becker’s anthropological reasoning is the push where Money’s clinical is the pull or vice versa, the dynamic tension of which is supported by a persistent curiosity and the subsequent necessity to cum clean that you slutslave have yet to embrace.

Money’s work is unusual.   He uncovered the importance of sexual incipience, how it is over looked and virtually impossible to document.   He made sense of the bizarre and unusual sex practices occupying the pages of Brenda Love’s work.  He gave reason to question why there is so little to encourage healthy sexuality in our culture which explains people’s overall unhealthy sexuality in general.

In order to embrace a healthy human sexuality a person needs to avoid the shame uncertainty in a developing sexuality brings.  Rather than being excoriated at a young age for experimentation as a measure of right and wrong according to religious doctrine, children need to be gently corrected as a matter of nurturing their sexuality.  Ultimately, children could be monitored through to adulthood for accurate developmental data to accumulate and lend support to a theory.  Money was unique in that he was able to formulate his theories out of the accumulated data he procured as a result of other research he was involved in- the neurophysiological development of children born intersexed. 

Money saw that patterns of paraphilic behavior were linked to disruption in the formation of what he termed the Lovemap.  He theorized the concept of love mapping to explain not normophilic sex behavior, but why/how fetishes are fashioned from abnormal sexual interests, abominations, and the resultant trauma.  As a mental survival maneuver paraphilic desires run the risk of abnormality for the slave to achieve the orgasm vanilla sex can’t bring the paraphiliac or fetishist. Also in  paraphilic sexual behavior there is an urgency to act in time as in a rescue attempt. Money also explained why it is necessary to classify paraphilias as symptomatic of mental illness.  It is because they were once considered crimes against nature. Homosexuality was once included in this category.  The removal of homosexuality from the medical industry standardized reference book the DSM -Diagnositic Statistical Manual-  which has been revised and updated I believe 5 times, allows for  the insurance companies to approve treatment of clinical mental disorders.  No one admits to having fetishes so there is very little activity in the community of psychiatrists to use it for such, but it does come in handy when you have a Jeffrey Dahmer on your hands.  Criminals are assessed as sex offenders and are diagnosed this way.  There are those who deserve to be guilty of crimes against nature but the ways and laws have not come along enough to stratify according the growing population of  fetishists.  We can turn to Becker for an explanation of why that is another time.

Ok so Money did know, but he fucked up turning too many girls into boys, and boys into girls before they knew it might turn out for the worse, declaring them one or the other, with sexual reassignment surgery at birth!  One of these unfortunate people committed suicide years later when she, who was born a he, tried to become a he again and couldn’t.  The mental anguish and frustration was obviously too much to bear.  So the medical profession ousted Money, like they did Watson.  Unlike Watson, he didn’t find a place on Madison Ave.  There aren’t too many places a man of Money’s brilliance could end up.  And now unfortunately he is dead. His child study partner who was helping him to amass the info that would have given us an incredible book on the topic has since reassigned her study to schizophrenia which doesn’t surprise Me because it is veritably a disease of confusion and since she had footing in gender studies surrounding confusion of identity she took the proper way out to no doubt keep her PhD in good standing and keep FAR from the topic of children and gender reassignment altogether.  It’s what you do when you’re a PhD and want to maintain the company of other pc clinicians and researchers.  She would have been a pioneer otherwise.   But I digress, back to Money and his six stratagems and then on to the bomb, The atomic Opponent Process Theory.

The sleazier the better.
